The hippocampus is a brain region that analyze information and shifting information from short term memory into long term memory. Catechin in green tea is rich in beneficial effects on the area. This was evident after scientists conducted experiments on mice. Mice that received catechins have a better orientation in space and learn more quickly than the other mice tested.

The fact that green tea is good for memory has been demonstrated previously by the Japanese experts. Elderly people in Japan who daily consume two or more cups of green tea, has a half times lower risk of developing memory disorders.

In addition, the U.S. Cancer Institute found that green tea catechins in reducing the risk of cancer and inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Previous studies also have shown that drinking tea can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.
